Common pool equipment brands found during Melbourne service visits
Litra PoolCare checks installed pool pumps, chlorinators, heaters and filters commonly used across Melbourne homes, rental properties, body corporate pools and hospitality sites.
Some older or discontinued models may not be practical to repair. During an assessment, Litra PoolCare checks the installed unit, visible condition, available parts and whether repair or replacement is the better option.
Pump, chlorinator, heater and filter brands Litra PoolCare can check
The same brand can appear across several equipment categories, but the service approach is different. A pump issue may involve flow, priming, bearings or motor symptoms. A chlorinator issue may involve the cell, controller display, salinity readings or output behaviour.
| Equipment type | Brands commonly checked | What is checked |
|---|---|---|
| Pool pumps | Hayward, Neptune, AstralPool, Waterco, Davey, Onga | Pump replacement, diagnostics, poor flow, noisy operation, leaking unions, priming problems and performance checks. |
| Salt chlorinators | Neptune, AstralPool, Zodiac, Waterco | Cell condition, chlorinator replacement, visible cable condition, display faults, salinity readings and basic equipment-side checks. |
| Pool heating | Neptune, AstralPool | Heater or heat pump replacement planning, visible equipment checks, flow-related issues and upgrade recommendations. |
| Sand filters | Neptune, AstralPool, Waterco, Hayward | Filter replacement, media condition, poor filtration, pressure concerns, multiport valve checks and flow restriction review. |
| Cartridge filters | AstralPool, Zodiac, Waterco | Cartridge filter replacement, cleaning access, pressure rise, cracked housings, worn cartridges and filtration performance checks. |

What Litra PoolCare checks by equipment type
Pool pumps
Pump checks focus on circulation, priming, air leaks, loud operation, overheating signs, visible leaks and repeated shutdown.
- Hayward
- Neptune
- AstralPool
- Waterco
- Davey
- Onga
Salt chlorinators
Chlorinator checks usually start with the cell, controller display, output behaviour, visible connections, salinity readings and water balance.
- Neptune
- AstralPool
- Zodiac
- Waterco
Pool heating
Heating recommendations depend on pool size, usage pattern, plumbing layout, power availability, flow rate and the condition of the existing unit.
- Neptune
- AstralPool
Sand and cartridge filters
Filter decisions are based on filtration quality, pressure behaviour, tank condition, valve condition, cartridge age or sand/media condition.
- Sand filters: Neptune, AstralPool, Waterco, Hayward
- Cartridge filters: AstralPool, Zodiac, Waterco
How brand information helps with repair, replacement and upgrades
Knowing the brand and model helps narrow down the next step, but it does not automatically mean replacement is required. Some issues come from water balance, blocked baskets, dirty filters, incorrect valve position, air leaks, poor flow or settings that no longer match the pool’s use.
When a unit is old, noisy, inefficient, cracked, repeatedly failing or hard to source parts for, replacement may be more sensible than continued repairs. For newer or serviceable equipment, a targeted fix or adjustment may be enough.
What to send before asking about a brand or model
Clear photos usually make the first assessment faster. Send the brand label, model plate, full equipment pad, pipe layout, controller display if relevant, and a short description of the symptom.
- Full photo of the equipment area, not only a close-up label.
- Brand and model plate if still readable.
- Photo of the pump, filter, chlorinator, heater and valves around the issue.
- Any error message, warning light, unusual noise or recent change in pool performance.
- Approximate pool size and whether the pool is salt, mineral or manually chlorinated.
